Ruta del Vino Somontano

70,000 tapas, almost 100,000 glasses of wine and more than 14,000 concert-goers are the final figures of the 11th Somontano Wine Festival.

A night full of memories; a night to remember.  Yesterday’s show brought together the voices and emotions of the hundreds of people gathered in Barbastro’s bull ring as they enjoyed the last night of the festival.  After a short presentation about the early years of the late singer, the voices of Maria, Carmen, José and Jon took the audience back in time with their voices and the melodies of the Nino Bravo.

The much-missed singer was also present via stage screens where his presence and voice brought a magical and intimate touch to the evening.  In the stalls, emotion brought people to their feet as they sang along to the best known songs while enjoying the glamour of the performance.  “Un beso y una flor” was the final song of the evening and brought the festival to a spectacular close. 

High attendance at the concerts and the Gastronomic Fair
The final evening of the Gastronomic Fair opened with an unexpected surprise.  Staff from the various stalls of the fair formed a long line of honour to welcome the first customers who had been patiently waiting in line to enter.
As has been the case throughout the whole of the festival, the fair was well attended and final figures show a total of 70,000 tapas served and almost 100,000 glasses of wine.  This reflects a 10% increase on the previous year.

Complementary activities a huge success

This year the programme of complementary activities, including winery visits and wine tasting courses, has seen a high level of participation.  Local hospitality and retail sectors have also seen an increase in sales and reservations thanks to the thousands of visitors in the region for the Somontano Wine Festival.

Satisfaction and gratitude
Mariano Beroz, President of the Regulatory Council, expressed the satisfaction and gratitude felt by the organisers as they reflected on the great reception of the Somontano Festival.  Satisfaction in the high numbers and excellent results achieved and gratitude towards the public who show their support for this initiative every year.
