The Somontano Wine Route presents its new offer at FITUR.
Once again Somontano features at FITUR, the most important tourism fair in the world. It makes up part of the Spanish Wine Routes stand, located in Pavillion 7, which is a must for lovers of wine tourism in Spain.
Against this backdrop, Somontano took centre stage this morning with the presence of important representatives of the organisations responsible for the Association for the Promotion of Tourism in Somontano, Santiago Santamaría, Jesús Lobera and Mariano Beroz, who were accompanied by Arturo Aliaga, the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Tourism for the Aragonese government. They presented a range of innovative offers imaginatively created by the Somontano Wine Route for a winter full of activities and wine-themed tourism. These activities make up just part of the offer presented in a new collection of travel guides designed to make the most of each season of the year.
This season’s guide boasts a number of appealing activities focused on the leisure and wine-related opportunities on offer during the winter months in the region’s wineries and vineyards. These include wine workshops that allow visitors to become oenologists for a few hours, wine tastings direct from the barrel and tank, a hearty brunch char-grilled over vine shoots and served in the vineyard and photography courses amongst the stark winter beauty of frost-covered vines. Lovers of gastronomy are catered for with wine and food pairing menus, wine-gastronomy games and even cookery courses featuring wine of the region. And of course the offer would not be complete without wine tastings, olive oil sampling, the now renowned Somontano Express Wine Tasting, walking routes for all levels, cultural excursions across the region, the descent of the many canyons of the Sierra de Guara, relaxing wine therapy sessions….1001 ways to enjoy the winter cold in Somontano! The comprehensive guide is finished off with a full listing of wine route establishments, a useful map, the opening hours of wineries, olive oil mills and dairies and a practical notebook for traveller’s notes.
This new material is part of a revamped edition of “The Seasons of the Somontano Wine Route,” now in its second year, which promotes a philosophy of making the most of the unique wine tourism offer through each season of the year. The different seasons present four different ways of experiencing wine tourism. The campaign shows continuity through its fresh and sophisticated image, which is clearly directed at a young and active public, which is open to new and attractive ideas. As with the first edition, one of the main features of the promotion will be the use of the internet. The website www.rutadelvinosomontano.com and the social networks of Facebook and Twitter are key to the promotion of the range of activities on offer.
