Ruta del Vino Somontano

This new committee was chosen by establishments from the Somontano Wine Route with the aim of achieving better coordination and cooperation between the management of the route and its members.

On Tuesday 9th November, the San Julian complex in Barbastro saw the election of a new Representative Committee as chosen by establishments linked to the Somontano Wine route

The constitution of the committee – of a consultative nature – is one of the most relevant actions to have taken place during the existence of the Somontano Wine Route, which has had the official seal of approval from the Wine Routes of Spain since 2006.  This body was created with the object of increasing the presence of the private sector within the management framework and therefore making communication between the Somontano Tourism Promotion Association (a joint project of the Barbastro Council, the Somontano Regional Council and the Regulatory Council of the DO Somontano.) and its members more fluid and direct.  The overall aim is to cooperate and coordinate and to define specific events and objectives.

The committee includes two representatives from the region’s wineries – Bodegas Meler and Viñas del Vero were chosen – two representatives from the accommodation sector – Casa Alodia providing the rural tourism viewpoint and La Posada de Lalola representing hotels and hostels.  The representatives from the restaurants and bars are Domus Fontana and El Lagar del Vero.  The category of specialist shops and themed leisure, which includes visitor centres, adventure sport companies, agri-food companies, transport and urban spas is represented by Pasteleria Iris and Ecostean and the incoming travel agencies by Enodestino.

The president of the Somontano Wine Route, Antonio Cosculluela, expressed his satisfaction with the participation of establishments in the election of committee members, with 74% of Somontano Wine Route members exercising their right to vote.
