The Somontano Wine Festival’s Gastronomic Fair Breaks a New Record

More than 25,200 tapas and the same number of glasses of wine were served on the third night of the concert, and Melendi’s concert was attended by 4,000 music fans.

Once again managing to surprise festival organisers, the Gastronomic Fair broke all previous records last night with  25,200 glasses of wine and over 25,000 tapas being served to festival goers.  This smashed the record set the previous year when 22,000 tapas and wines were served on the same night of the festival.  This goes to confirm the loyalty and affection of a high number of people, both locals and visitors to the area, who consider the festival as a not-to-be-missed event on their calendar.

The festival’s musical event also enjoyed a good night with over 4,000 people packing Barbastro’s bull ring, all of whom left the concert delighted with the singer’s performance.

Other events throughout the day repeated the same success story; in the morning a group of wine lovers created their own wine in an innovative workshop, while in the afternoon, close to 50 people took part in a wine tasting course.  A total of 50 people arrived in Barbastro on the Somontano Wine Bus, which picked up in both Zaragoza and Huesca.

Today sees the end of the festival with more tapas and wine and a concert by Dani Martín

The festival’s final day gets underway at 12 midday with a wine tourism route through Barbastro and a tasting of oak-aged wines in a central winery.  At 6pm there will be a further advanced wine tasting course in the Somontano Wine Zone and at 9pm the Gastronomic Fair opens.  The twelfth edition of the Somontano Wine Festival will be brought to a close with a concert by Dani Martín, which takes place at 11pm.
