The first wine bus left Zaragoza at 9am on Saturday 16th July, stopping at Huesca fifty minutes later, before heading onto Somontano.  Visitors enjoyed a bright, sunny day of wine tourism as they visited the emblematic wineries of Enate and Lalanne.   The rest of their day was spent in Barbastro with visits to the Diocesan Museum, the Cathedral Complex and the San Julian Complex, home to the DO Somontano Council, Wine Museum and Visitor Centre.  Tourists also had free time in the city to take up various special offers in shops, restaurants and bars belonging to the Somontano Wine Route.

This first Wine Bus is part of the wide and varied offer in Somontano and links the cities of Zaragoza and Huesca with diverse wine tourism activities, both by day and by night.  The bus makes it possible to fully enjoy the world of wine without the need of a car.

Coming up: The Somontano Wine Festival

The next departure date for the bus coincides with the Somontano Wine Festival, whose 12th edition takes place between the 4th and 7th August in Barbastro.  This innovative offer incorporates a trip on the Wine Bus, leaving Zaragoza at 6pm (Huesca at 6.50) and a visit to a Somontano winery.  This is followed by free time at the festival’s Gastronomic Fair and entrance into the music concert of the night.  Ticket prices on Thursday and Friday are 33€ and 38€ on Saturday and Sunday, which include entrance into the concert.

In addition, the Wine Bus will also run on the third Saturday of August and September with the idea of enjoying “A Day of Wine Tourism.” The bus will leave Zaragoza at 9am, collecting in Huesca at 9.50, before arriving in Somontano.  Wineries will of course feature in the excursion as well as emblematic locations of the region such as Alquézar or Barbastro.  The exact itinerary changes on each occasion, providing an opportunity for tourists to enjoy the Wine Bus more than once in order to discover the diversity of the Somontano Wine Route.  And all for the price of 26€.
