The Somontano Wine Bus: The New Offer from the Somontano Wine Route
Zaragoza and Huesca will be the departure points, by day or by night, for a new way to experience this magical wine destination.
The Somontano Wine Route has today presented the Somontano Wine Bus, a magnificent opportunity for the people of Zaragoza and Huesca to discover the magic of this wine producing region by day or by night.
The representatives of the Association for Somontano Tourism Promotion (Jesús Lobera, Santiago Santamaría, Mariano Beroz and the President of the Somontano Development Centre, Mariano Altemir) presented this new initiative, which is jointly financed by the Somontano Wine Route and the Somontano Development Centre.
The transport company ALOSA will be providing the buses for the project, which will be decorated with images of the Somontano Wine Route. These buses will also carry out their regular services with the same images in place. The specialist wine tourism agency, Enodestino, takes charge of the tickets and trips and those people interested can sign up by telephoning 974 316 342. On the “Wine Bus” tab of this website, there is detailed information about the different proposals and tickets can also be bought by contacting bus@rutadelvinosomontano.com These are priced at 26, 33 or 38 euros depending upon the chosen event.
Day bus
The “Somontano Wine Bus” proposes two different ways to take advantage of this new service.
On the third Saturday of July, August and September, the Wine Bus will leave Zaragoza at 9am and pick up from Huesca fifty minutes later. It will then head off to Somontano to visit various wineries and emblematic towns of the region, such as Barbastro or Alquézar. Each Saturday the wineries visited will be different to encourage people come back for more and get to know the wide ranging offer of the Somontano Wine Route. The return bus will depart Somontano at 6pm.
Night bus
The Somontano Wine Festival is a vital tourist event for the region and the 12th edition takes place between 4th and 7th August. This is the attraction of the night visit with a fantastic programme in place to take it all in. The bus leaves Zaragoza at 6pm and picks up in Huesca fifty minutes later. Once in Somontano, visitors have the opportunity to visit a winery and enjoy a range of tapas at the festival’s Gastronomic Fair before attending a live music concert.
Inaugral trip.
A group of journalists were the first group to enjoy this new initiative by taking part in the inaugural journey this morning. Departing from Zaragoza at 8.30am, the bus collected other professionals from Huesca before arriving for a visit at one of the key wineries in Somontano. They enjoyed a hearty brunch in Alquézar followed by attendance at a press conference, during which the new campaign was officially launched. The day was rounded off with the best gastronomy of the region before the Wine Bus departed on its return journey.
